James D. Hoff Memorial
Law Enforcement officials and dignitaries from across the region stood in silent reverence showing their solidarity and respect for those Law Enforcement personnel who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
Today was the 27th James D. Hoff Memorial held at Idlewild Park in Reno Nevada. This annual formal event also recognizes Law Enforcement individuals who survived harrowing situations while on duty. Two members of the Washoe County Sheriff Deputies Association were honored today for their heroism in life threatening encounters with the placement of Survivor Plaques.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office has lost six commissioned members from 1935 to the present:
Deputy H. Swaney End of Watch: 01/12/1935
Deputy E. Griffith End of Watch: 04/30/1947
Special Deputy N, Hawkins End of Watch: 12/09/1984
Lieutenant G. Barnes End of Watch: 03/19/1991
Deputy F. Minnie End of Watch: 05/30/1997
Deputy J. Wiberg End of Watch: 05/11/2004
